KATHMANDU, Feb. 8: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide a grant assistance of US$ 26.4 million (Rs. 1,900 million) to the Government of Nepal for the implementation of Community Irrigation Project (CIP).
The grant agreement was signed by Secretary of Ministry of Finance Rameshwore Prasad Khanal and Country Director of ADB Barry J. Hitchcock at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.
Issuing a press release, the ministry said that the project aims at developing small scale irrigation systems in 12 districts through a community driven process targeted at the poor, women, other advantaged groups and small land holding farmers.
The beneficiary districts are Kanchanpur, Kailali, Dang, Kapilvastu, Doti, Salyan, Rukum, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Bajhang, Jumla and Mugu.
The project will be completed by February 2017, the statement added.
